On the “Birthday” screen, you can choose when the Calendar notifies you of an upcoming birthday. You can select “Event Day,” “1 Day Ago,” “2 Days Ago,” or “1 Week Ago.” The Calendar for the first three of these choices will notify you at 9 a.m. on the Calendar of your chosen day.
After that, exit the settings. When the alert time comes, the Calendar will send you a notification about the birthday.
Depending on your notification settings, you may see these alerts via your lock screen or notification center, as well as a popup on your screen (to sync them, see Settings> Notifications> Calendar.) Very easy!
